How much is counseling? Do you take insurance or offer sliding scale rates?
My fee is $125 per session. I do not accept insurance, but can provide a detailed receipt to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I offer limited sliding scale spots; please reach out to learn more.
How long does each therapy session take?
Each session is 50 minutes long. In the intake session, we will discuss your psychological history, your reasons for coming to counseling, and set goals for your time in counseling.
What kind of approach do you use to therapy?
With adults, I use an integrative approach of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and attachment theory.
With children, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy and integrate psychoeducation and other interventions as needed.
I use EMDR with both adults and children.
Where did you receive your training?
I received my B.A. in English from Liberty University, and received my M.A. in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. I completed my clinical training at Forest Hill Church and Milk and Honey Counseling. I am a trained Prepare/Enrich facilitator for premarital counseling. I have received EMDR basic training.
How often do I need to come to therapy?
For adults, I recommend that you schedule weekly sessions for at least the first month. Once you have made some progress in therapy, you can always switch to biweekly.
For children, I recommend that you schedule weekly sessions. I also schedule a parent meeting for every 4-5 play sessions.
What states do you see clients in?
I am licensed in the state of North Carolina, which means I can only see clients who reside in NC. My office is located in south Charlotte, but I also provide virtual services to anyone who resides in North Carolina.
